






SMM2 March 18: solid-state batteries are regarded as batteries that can inherit the status of lithium-ion batteries in recent years, and their energy density is expected to be 2-5 times that of current lithium-ion batteries, with longer cyclicity and life, higher rate performance, and may essentially solve the safety problems of existing liquid electrolyte lithium-ion batteries. The market also has high hopes for solid-state batteries. Solid-state battery companies are springing up at home and abroad, and a number of well-known global car companies have announced that all-solid-state lithium batteries will be mass-produced from 2020 to 2025. In January 2021, Xilai released a solid-state battery product with a battery capacity of 150kWh, which rekindled the heat of the solid-state battery.
Here, SMM summarizes the layout of solid-state batteries by leading enterprises since 2020:
Ningde era: on January 20, the company learned that Ningde era recently disclosed two kinds of patents related to solid-state batteries, namely, "a preparation method of solid-state electrolyte" and "a sulfide solid-state electrolyte sheet and its preparation method".
Weilai: in January, Weilai released a solid-state battery product with a battery capacity of 150kWh. The battery uses high nickel cathode material, silicon carbon negative electrode, solid-liquid electrolyte of in-situ curing process and nano-scale coating process to achieve the battery energy density of 360Wh/kg. The 2018 ES8,NEDC with the new battery pack has a range of 730km, the new ES8 has a mileage of 850km, the performance version of the new ES8 has a mileage of 900km, and the latest ET7 will have a mileage of 910km, while the latest Xilai EC6 will have a mileage of 910km.
BYD: in January, the State intellectual property Office announced BYD's latest 283 patents, including two patents for solid-state batteries. One is "a cathode material and a preparation method thereof, a solid-state lithium battery", and the other is "a lithium-ion battery solid-state electrolyte and a preparation method thereof and a solid-state lithium-ion battery".
Guoxuan Hi-Tech: in September 2020, Guoxuan Hi-Tech expressed the layout of solid-state battery, and began to iteratively upgrade solid-state battery technology in 2022 to produce high-safety solid-state battery. In 2025, it will produce all-solid-state battery with energy density higher than 400Wh/kg.
GAC Capital: in mid-September 2020, GAC Capital completed the EVA + round financing for the development of Qingtao, taking the lead in the layout of the solid-state battery industry. After the completion of this round of financing, Qingtao Development will further strengthen joint development and business collaboration with new energy vehicle enterprises to promote the development of solid-state battery industry and battery life cycle value development.
Ganfeng lithium industry: disclosed in July 2020, the company's first-generation 200 million watt-hour solid-state battery pilot line has been successfully put into production, and the product performance has fully reached the level of samples developed by the company's solid-state battery research and development team. Is actively docking solid-state battery boarding cooperation with German Volkswagen and other car factory customers.
Huineng Science and Technology: on July 3, 2020, Huineng Science and Technology mainland headquarters and global industrial base project was signed in the people's Government of Lin'an District, Hangzhou, with a total investment of 38 billion yuan. Projects include the construction of 2GWh, 5GWh solid-state lithium ceramic battery core industrialization projects, and will consider joint ventures with car companies to build production lines. After all the projects are completed and reach production, it is expected that the annual sales output value will be more than 30 billion yuan.
Nandu Power supply: in July 2020, the company issued a pre-plan for a non-public offering of A-shares, which is intended to raise no more than 147 million yuan, mainly for the construction of solid-state battery and fuel cell test lines and the construction of a nationally recognized laboratory test center. In April 2019, Nandu Power and Huineng Technology Co., Ltd. signed an early authorization agreement in Hangzhou, and the two sides reached a preliminary consensus on the technical authorization cooperation for solid-state lithium battery production. At the initial stage of the cooperation, the two sides will focus on solid-state lithium batteries for energy storage applications. Huineng Technology will provide production licenses to Nandu Power, authorize solid-state battery production technology with an energy density of about 240Wh/kg, and provide core equipment and materials for production. And assist in plant planning and guidance. Nandu Power will become Huineng's exclusive authorized partner in the energy storage market.
Volkswagen: Volkswagen Group plans to increase its stake in QuantumScape, a spin-off company that develops solid-state batteries at Stanford University, and will invest an additional $200 million (1.419 billion yuan) to promote solid-state battery technology.
